Organizing my new studio!

Well, I have been very fortunate, thanks to my mom helping me with the financial side, and my husband putting in long hours to build after he puts in his regular 12-hour work day and on weekends, to convert our 20'x20' garage into an awesome art studio!  Here are some photos from before, in process, and now almost finished.  I am in the organizational process now, which I love, and still need to do things such as make curtains, finish fine-tuning the organization of items in the shelves, go through items that have been in storage and possibly purge a bit, as well as creating the last furniture item, a large center island-style table in the middle of the room; another item my husband is going to build for me.  BUT, for now, this is what I've got, which I LOVE!  The counter along the wall, and the bookshelf are new as of yesterday, thanks to my husband (my birthday present)!  I will post more as I get things completely organized, and as I start creating more!  I am starting a t-shirt quilt for my good friend Heather's daughter.  (:

Creative space explosion!

We have a family of 4 living in an 1,100 square foot home I like to think of as a cottage.  We originally bought it as a vacation home, then decided to try moving from the Sierra Foothills in California to here on the southern coast of Oregon.  At first I got creative with all my "junk" as my family calls it, and moved the laundry into a closet, and used the laundry room for my creative space, but it just wasn't big enough, as you can see here.  I have collected so much stuff, and keep recycled materials and supplies in anticipation of a project coming up, or a craft I want to do in my kindergarten class, or the upcoming K.A.S.P.E.R. summer camp I do, and had no space left to work in.  But, in the next post I will show you my new studio and how I am starting to organize it!

Welcome!

Welcome, and thanks for visiting!  I'm just getting started in the blogging world and am excited to share so many fun creations I have made!  I love color, and adding it to all aspects of my life!  I also love to create items from fabric such as banners, quilts, and bags of all sorts.  I also love creating and sharing fun items made from recycled materials.  In the coming days I will post photos from items I have made, or my students or campers have made, many inspired by my favorite resource, Pinterest!  (:  Here's my first photo, a peace banner I made for my fun friend, Sharon.
